BMC is getting into track in a big way. They helped build Velodrome Suisse across the street from their world headquarters in Grenchen, Switzerland. They're backing the Swiss national track team. And they're building the fastest track bikes on earth. The first fruit of this labor is the Trackmachine TR01. They took the lessons learned from the creation of the TM01 and TMR01 and applied them to a frameset that masters the banked oval.
 
They worked with their subA concept, which has been proven the world over. The frontal area is minimal, the tubing profiles include tripwires on the leading edges to trick the wind into thinking the tubes are much longer than they really are. This tactic allows BMC to make sure the TR01 still fits within UCI design constraints. Unlike their road bikes, track bikes don't have to go uphill or down and don't have to deal with rough roads. As a result, they could make the bike even stiffer for incredible power transfer. A great place to look at the subA thinking in action is the fork. Running from the fork crown to the top of the head tube is a structural fairing that both helps stiffen the front end and make the bike even more aero, guaranteeing that the least-coordinated gorilla-armed sprinter won't lose energy or his line to unwanted lateral flex. BMC knew that to maximize aerodynamics they also had to make sure the stem and the seat post were also aero. They worked their P2P, Position 2 Perform magic on both components. The seat post has four different setbacks, from –30mm to +30mm so that the bike will work for sprinters, pursuiters, and mass-start racers equally well. And the height is adjusted via two small Allen bolts behind the seat tube. The integrated stem comes in two styles, pursuit and sprint. The pursuit is 60mm long. The sprint is adjustable from 100-130mm in 10mm increments. The stem angle can be adjusted almost infinitely. Just choose your favorite 31.8mm clamp handlebars and you can fit them. Better yet, you can have a sprint/mass start bar and a pursuit bar all ready to go and just bolt them in as necessary.
 
BMC also took stock of the components track racers use and the stresses they put those parts under. This is why you'll find the TR01 with an English-threaded bottom bracket and replaceable adjustable steel fork tips at the back of the rear triangle. The former is due to the lasting popularity of three-piece cranks amongst trackies. The latter is because there's no reason a manhandling mechanic should ruin your pride and joy.
